In the United States you are free to protest. Some have chosen to do just that. They meet for coffee and/or coco before the protest, and meet again for more coffee and/or coco after the protest and share phone videos of them knocking over garbage cans, breaking windows, or screaming at police officers. This is “protest” in America – zero risk with self-promoting reward where everyone can pretend they are part of some greater cause than the reality that is their small, weak, and largely meaningless little lives.
Iran is something very-very different. To protest there is to risk your life. Tens of thousands are doing that now. Reports indicate more than a thousand have already been put into prisons. Hundreds might soon be executed. Many of these Iranian protestors are women demanding freedom from the oppressive Islamic regime – a regime former President Barack Obama cuddled and coddled with for years, ultimately delivering this authoritarian government billions of millions of dollars and a promise that they could become a nuclear power. He held the hand of a government that routinely chops the hands (and heads) off from its citizens for being a minority, or gay, or a woman who does not follow the strict code of Islamic rule that views them as something less than human.
The Iranian woman in the pic below took off her government-mandated hijab during a public protest. Reports now indicate she has since disappeared. Many fear the worst. The Iranian government has no comment. You want to know who else has no comment? The liberal elites here in America. Where is Hollywood rushing to support Iranian women? What about the U.S. media?
These Iranian women are not complaining about being patted on the butt three decades ago. No, they are risking their lives to be allowed to live their lives as they choose. They aren’t going onto Twitter to write #metoo and then thinking they have done their part. They are not pretending outrage over a joke about breasts. They are not marching with pink pu**y hats on their head and having a collective laugh about it all.
The women of Iran are risking death for a cause and likely wondering why so few here in America seem to care.
Is this indifference all out of an instinctive reaction to protect the Obama legacy? Why? Barack Obama was a pathetic president. Deal with it. The economy sucked. The rich became far richer while the Middle Class and poor suffered more and more. He weaponized the IRS to go after political opponents. He expanded the surveillance powers of the federal government. He later weaponized the FBI to go after yet more political opponents. He literally whispered into Russia’s ear a promise to do more for them. He drone-bombed innocents over and over again. The list of administration scandals is a mile long – even if the elites refuse to report on them.
BARACK OBAMA WAS A HORRIBLE PRESIDENT.
You wish to ignore that fact? Fine – but don’t go on ignoring what Iranian women are bravely trying to do right now. Don’t be so hypocritical to laugh and giggle or scowl and shake your fist about caring about women here in America while caring nothing for women around the world who face real challenge and risk for wanting the very freedom you so clearly take for granted.
When it comes to Iran, find it in yourself to be better than Barack Obama. You damn sure can’t be any worse.
