His name is Michael Atkinson and the far-left media doesn’t really want you to know too much about him.
Why? Because he’s the one who made certain the Trump-Ukraine complaint qualified for “whistleblower” status by changing the rules one month before to allow hearsay/second-hand accounts. Oh, and guess what? Atkinson played a major role in the Mueller-Russia hoax as well and appears to be linked at the hip to House Democrat and Trump impeachment collaborator, Adam Schiff.
One critical period in Atkinson’s resume, however, has been overlooked—probably intentionally—by his boosters in the media: His work as a top deputy in the Justice Department in 2016 and 2017 during the very same time that the DOJ was investigating Trump campaign aides and, after the election, incoming administration officials. Atkinson worked directly for two figures involved in both the counterintelligence probe into the Trump campaign and the set-up of former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn.
In July 2016, the exact month that former FBI Director James Comey officially opened a case against the Trump campaign, Atkinson was named senior counsel to John Carlin, the head of the National Security Division. Carlin was Robert Mueller’s chief of staff when he ran the FBI and was appointed NSD chief by President Obama in 2013.
On Monday, Atkinson attempted to defend his mysterious change to the whistleblower first-hand account requirement. (A change some in the far-left media continue to try and say didn’t actually happen!)
Methinks Mr. Atkinson doth protest too much. Prior to the current “whistle-blower complaint” the Intelligence Community Inspector General did not accept Urgent Concern whistle-blower claims without first-hand knowledge. However, the ICIG revised the protocol in August 2019 to accept a CIA complaint against President Donald Trump.
The IGIC revision was made at the same time HPSCI Chairman Adam Schiff was tweeting in August about President Trump, Rudy Giuliani and holding back funding pending assistance with political opponents. Note the Date:
President Trump announced Joseph Macguire as the Acting ODNI on August 8th, 2019. The CIA operative “whistle-blower” letter to Adam Schiff and Richard Burr was on August 12th. Immediately following this letter, the ICIG rules and requirements for Urgent Concern “whistle-blowers” was modified, allowing hearsay complaints. On August 28th Adam Schiff begins tweeting about the construct of the complaint.
The coordinated effort obviously ties back-in Intelligence Community Inspector General, Michael K Atkinson.
Michael K Atkinson was previously the Senior Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General of the National Security Division of the Department of Justice (DOJ-NSD) in 2016. That makes Atkinson senior legal counsel to John Carlin and Mary McCord who were the former heads of the DOJ-NSD in 2016 when the stop Trump operation was underway.
…Yes, that gives current ICIG Michael Atkinson a strong and corrupt motive to participate with the Schiff/Lawfare impeachment objective.
Atkinson’s conflict-of-self-interest, and/or possible blackmail upon him by deep state actors who most certainly know his compromise, likely influenced his approach to this whistleblower complaint. That would explain why the Dept. of Justice Office of Legal Counsel so strongly rebuked Atkinson’s interpretation of his responsibility with the complaint.
(This is critically important to note because the Office of Legal Counsel is normally the final legal word in matters such as this and their rulings are normally only overturned by the Attorney General and/or the President. (Example: When the Obama White House ignored an OLC ruling and went ahead and blew up Libya which resulted in the deaths of thousands) The OLC basically pushed aside the complaint because it was rubbish and certainly not worthy of an “urgent” designation. The far-left media continues to ignore this very important point. It seems Atkinson, in conjunction with Congressman Schiff, leaked said complaint to ensure it received the attention it required to then use it as the basis for an impeachment inquiry of which House Democrat leadership had already secretly prepared for. The fix was in – another attempted Deep State coup to remove President Trump from office before the voters had a chance to give him a second term in 2020.)
