Right now is summer in Australia and every summer that country faces annual bushfires.
This year the number of those fires has suddenly increased. The radical left was quick to blame “climate change” for the increase in fires.
Ah, but now Australian authorities are pointing to something far more likely – people who have been starting these fires on purpose.
Police are now working on the premise arson is to blame for much of the devastation caused this bushfire season. A strike force will investigate whether blazes were deliberately lit, and bring those responsible to justice. https://t.co/TWh1KQycs4 @ebatten7 #NSWFires #7NEWS pic.twitter.com/Dul8dMFrZv

“Overall, across Australia police arrested 183 people for lighting bushfires across Queensland, NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania in the past few months.
The link between arsonists and the deadly fires that devastate Australia every summer is well known and well documented, with the rate of deliberately lit fires escalating rapidly during the school holiday period.”
It should also be noted that as bad as this year’s brush fires in Australia have been, be they naturally occurring or caused by arsonists, as Australian authorities now seem to suspect, there have been far worse bushfire seasons for the Australian continent in the past such as in the 1970s when the brushfire season was 600% worse than those taking place this year. (You won’t get the far-left media to disclose that as they once again try to paint the current disaster as the worst disaster ever and then pin the blame on “climate change.”
Similarly there have been brushfire season more than a century ago that burned more area than those this season.
Just as interesting is this factual tidbit that, again, the far-left media chooses to ignore via Australian scientist, Tim Flannery:
“Fire suppression became the dominant paradigm in fire management leading to a significant shift away from traditional burning practices. A 2001 study found that the disruption of traditional burning practices and the introduction of unrestrained logging meant that many areas of Australia were now prone to extensive wildfires especially in the dry season. A similar study in 2017 found that the removal of mature trees by Europeans since they began to settle in Australia may have triggered extensive shrub regeneration which presents a much greater fire fuel hazard. Another factor was the introduction of Gamba grass imported into Queensland as a pasture grass in 1942, and planted on a large scale from 1983. This can fuel intense bushfires, leading to loss of tree cover and long-term environmental damage.”
In short, and very similar to what continues to take place in California and elsewhere, the primary cause of large brushfires in Australia is directly attributed to poor resource management. Historically, Australia’s Aborigines routinely engaged in annual control burns across the massive continent. When these burns were all but eliminated, allowing new growth underbrush along with the introduction of non-native grasses by European settlers, the opportunity for more damaging brushfire seasons intensified.
That has nothing to do with any theory like “climate change” but is directly attributed to basic human stupidity. It’s the same kind of stupidity found in the U.S. as forest undergrowth is allowed to grow unchecked, turning forestlands into tinder boxes that will inevitably, catch fire and then quickly spread from hundreds of acres to hundreds of thousands of acres in a matter of weeks.
President Trump has pointed this out but each time is quickly dismissed and/or ridiculed even though the basic science to utilizing controlled burns is clearly on his side. The current scenario of the far-left is to ignore the science of sound forestry management and replace it with “don’t do anything” and then when a bad fire breaks out, quickly blame it on “climate change.”
That too isn’t science but just more human stupidity.
Climate change didn’t set those fires in Australia.
People did. Let’s hope they are given the justice they deserve.
